Nomination Form
[Kindly download the required form] |
Please note:
we have separate forms for Defensive
Driving courses and Safe
Journey Management courses.
Each course has a prerequisite, that must be fulfilled in
order to take the course. |
| Please read
the following points for Defensive driving courses carefully
before nominating anyone: |
 |
Courses start at
07:00 AM and reporting after 07:15 AM will be considered a
‘no show’ and the full training fee will be forfeited. |
 |
You MUST bring the
following documents with you to the course (NOT PHOTOCOPIES):
-ROP Driving License
Defensive Driving Circular
-‘Private Light’ Driving Licenses Update
PDO and OPAL have now clarified the law directly with
the Ministry of Manpower regarding the restrictions
placed upon expatriate drivers with ‘private light’
licenses.
They have confirmed verbally that the law only bans
expatriates with ‘private light’ licenses
from driving ‘pickup light vehicles’. Other
types of light vehicles and saloon cars are not affected
and can be driven by everyone who has an ROP license.
As a result PDO departments and contractors are instructed
to review their use of pickup vehicles by expatriates
with ‘private light’ licenses and to see
where they can be given alternative vehicles for the
journey instead.
PDO is awaiting confirmation in writing which will not
be received until after Eid however both TATI and SDI-Sheida
are now accepting training/assessment bookings for all
‘private light’ license holders so that
the training can take place after the holiday.
The temporary extension of PDO driving permits to persons
with private light licenses (from the 25th August) has
now subsequently ceased and so people should book their
defensive driving courses as before. If your permit
expired in the temporary extension period then please
inform SDI-Sheida when booking.
|
-HSE Passport showing a valid HSE Induction Course has been
completed
-PDO Driving Permit
-One passport-size photograph (in case of HSE Induction).
|
 |
The Nominee SHOULD fluently
speak and write in the language of the course taken. If it
is found that proper training cannot be delivered due to the
language barrier, nominee will be removed from the course
and the full course fee will be forfeited. |
 |
All training courses (with the SOLE EXCEPTION
of DD07) are conducted in MANUAL TRANSMISSION vehicles. It
is therefore your responsibility to ensure you are licensed
to drive such vehicles (i.e. your license is not for automatics
only). |
 |
All Nominees on Heavy vehicle
courses (7 tons and above), bus and tanker courses MUST BRING
THEIR OWN VEHICLE OF THIS TYPE. |
 |
In case of Heavy vehicles, the Nominator must
indicate if they require TATI to provide a 3.5 tons vehicle.
This facility is only available for Omanis, not expatriates. |
 |
Anyone bringing a tanker for
a DD04 course MUST ENSURE IT HAS CONTENT (AS A GUIDE, PARTIALLY
LOADED). |
 |
If the vehicle is found to be empty, or containing
so little material as to detract from the purpose of ensuring
the driver can safely manage such a vehicle in a semi-loaded
state, the driver will be declared a ‘no show’,
the training cancelled and all course fees forfeited. |
 |
Overalls and Safety shoes MUST
be worn. |
 |
The eye test is an important pre-requisite for
attending defensive driving training. If you fail the eye
test on the day of the course you will be charged for the
full course but can not continue. You are therefore encouraged
to have an eye test at least 72 hours before your course either
at TATI or Sheida-SDI as the results remain valid for three
weeks. The cost of an eye-sight test is RO2, and can be taken
between the hours of 9am and 4pm with no appointment, just
call the training premises. |
 |
You MUST be able to pass the
eye test given at the start of the course (with the aid of
