a leading refinery in Oman; having a total process capacity
of 222,000 bpd.
• Mechanical Supervisors - 20 Positions
• Mechanical Engineers - 5 Positions
• Senior Mechanical Engineers - 2 Positions
Mechanical Supervisors
Qualifications & experience required:
1. Mechanical Supervisors should have a 4 year diploma or
equivalent with a minimum ten years experience in oil, gas,
petrochemical or major EPC companies.
2. Personnel with a minimum three to five years experience
in a running plant and turnaround inspection will be given
preference.
Job Description:
1. Mechanical Supervisors are required to plan, execute and
supervise all field activities related to construction, work
permits, enforcement of EHS policies, coordination with external
third party agencies, quality checks, progress monitoring,
testing and commissioning.
2. Should be computer literate with good working and practical
knowledge in their respective disciplines.
3. Though not expected to carryout any engineering design
or calculations, they should have sufficient working knowledge
about Engineering Codes and Standards to understand the design
basis.
4. Are responsible for marking-up ‘as-built’
drawings and documents in addition to preparation of monthly/
weekly reports.
5. Depending on the workload and site conditions Mechanical
Supervisors may be required to assist the Engineers in the
review of engineering drawings/ documents for developing project
scope of work.
In addition, if required, they should be able to:
1. Develop conceptual plans based on the project requirements
2. Carry out quantity estimation
3. Prepare cost estimation
4. Develop tender documents and perform bid evaluation
5. Review drawings, documents, bills/ claims from consultants
and contractors.
6. Coordinate with other disciplines during execution.
7. Organize and arrange materials from SR Warehouse.
Senior Mechanical Engineers / Mechanical
Engineers
Qualifications & experience required:
1. Should be a graduate in respective disciplines with a
minimum ten years experience in oil, gas, petrochemical or
major EPC companies in the design / engineering section.
2. Personnel with minimum five years experience in commissioning
and operation / maintenance of running plant will be given
preference.
Job Description:
1. In addition to the skills indicated for Mechanical Supervisors,
Engineers should have a thorough knowledge of refinery projects
and be capable of developing and reviewing technical specifications,
drawings, design calculations, operating manuals and other
project deliverables.
2. They will participate in design review, HAZOP and commissioning
meetings. The contracted personnel should be fully conversant
with current Engineering Codes and Standards.
3. They should have experience in using real time plant data
historian like Yokogawa Exaquantum™. They will train
fresh Omani engineers as per requirements.
Discipline Skills
1. Experience in monitoring and coordinating activities of
Consultants and EPC Contractors.
2. Specialist training in piping design, static / rotating
equipment, heaters, exchangers, equipment / plant layout,
heavy equipment lifting, vent, relief systems Hazop and various
personal computer courses such as stress analysis, PDS, 3D
models, SPPID, EDMS, spreadsheets, databases and project management
tools.
3. Fully conversant with international / local codes, standards
and statutory regulations connected with the discipline.
4. Tender preparation.
5. Multi-skilled person with strong analytical/ problem solving
skills. Ability to handle multiple activities with a focus
on Cost, Schedule, Scope and Quality.
6. Regional work experience will be an added advantage.
7. A very good knowledge of English both written and spoken
is required.
8. Extensive hands on experience with AutoCAD™, Intergraph
PDS™, SmartPlant™ Review and PID, MS Project™
or equivalent project control software packages.
9. Provide engineering support for piping design, static/
rotating equipment, heaters, exchangers, vent, relief systems,
welding etc., in Process and Utility sections.
10. Thorough knowledge and design experience in pumps, compressors,
plant layout/ spacing, 3D- modeling, piping including FRP
, jacketed, trench and underground, welding, development of
test packs, sample connections, supports, insulation and heat
tracing.
11. Scope development for Capex projects, major outages /
turnarounds.
12. Ensure that all electronic documentation systems are
updated regularly to maintain accurate information.
13. Serve as an engineering resource for root cause failure
analysis.
