RAMADAN TIMINGS – 2012

The Holy month of Ramadan will begin on 21 July and is likely to end on 20 August. Because of this, the length of working days for Muslims will be reduced. In order to accommodate the Defensive Driving Training Programmes within these reduced hours PDO, TATI and Sheida have revised the course timings to enable training and assessments to continue.

The Ramadan period can often increase tiredness due to the change in sleeping patterns. PDO strongly advise that if you feel you cannot attend your driving course without first having sufficient rest, consider rescheduling such bookings for after the Ramadan and Eid period. People postponing courses scheduled during Ramadan will be able to continue to drive on an expired permit provided they have evidence of the booking and of an alternative course having been booked. PDO will ensure that the training calendars for July /August is published in good time to assist you with this.

Please also note that the timing and duration of courses as well as the assessments for most courses at coast have had to be adapted to ensure that courses are completed by 1pm each afternoon. This has resulted in the assessments being conducted by SDI-Sheida on an additional morning. The table below shows the changes by way of a comparison between normal operations and what will happen during Ramadan.

You should note that the driver trainers/assessors at TATI and SDI-Sheida are empowered by PDO to remove you from a defensive driving course and assessment if they are of the opinion that you are not fit to drive safely due to fatigue. In such cases candidates’ fees will be forfeited. This does not affect the right of TATI or SDI-Sheida to remove you from the course/assessment for other reasons which render you unfit to drive or continue to drive.

The normal service for defensive driving courses and assessments will resume after the Eid celebrations which are expected to commence on last week of August.
